Treasures of the BC coast

Travel from serene sand flats to swaying kelp beds to wave-swept rocky coasts. British Columbia boasts a great diversity of coastal habitats that host a large variety of marine species uniquely adapted to their homes.

A variety of ecosystems, one coastline

Large, coastal scenes above and a diver’s view of the marine life living beneath the waves, surround you in the Treasures of the BC Coast exhibit. Here, you’ll find oozing hagfish, voracious seastars and the giant Pacific octopus – the largest octopus species in the world.
