The Amazon Gallery is home to 3 green-cheeked conures. These small, charismatic birds are parrots, and like many parrots, can typically be heard before they are seen. 

You can distinguish these parrots from the other parrot species in this Gallery, the monk parakeet, by looking at their small size and their feather coloration. Two of the green-cheek conures have grey heads, green backs, and red bellies and tails. These are Pudgy and Yoko. The third bird of this species is River, who, as her name suggests, has more of an overall blue coloration, along with a grey head and belly. 

This species is frequently found in the pet trade, but it’s important to note that all parrots are wild animals, and as a result do not make an ideal pet for most people. They are loud and messy, while also requiring specific diets and veterinary care.
