Meet The Penguins

Duration: 45 minutes
All prices include GST

* Participants must be 8 years of age or older. Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a paying adult. Youth (age 13-18) can attend without adult accompaniment but cannot substitute for an adult if there is a child participant.

Book Early - space is limited and fills well in advance.

Up Close And Personal

Accompany an Aquarium interpreter to learn more about an endangered species: the African penguin. You’ll spend time exploring around their habitat, learning about the seven individuals who we have the opportunity to take care of. Then, go behind-the-scenes to see the fishy side of taking care of penguins. Finally, prepare yourself to take a close look at the animals as you participate in an enrichment training session. This experience is an exciting and educational trip that you will always remember!

What To Expect

Enjoy a special presentation with the penguin team, complete with props and a visit to the marine mammal kitchen, while learning more about the Aquarium's conservation and animal care projects. You’ll also participate in a penguin enrichment training session alongside our Vancouver Aquarium trainers.

Go Behind The Scenes

This is a unique opportunity to view the Vancouver Aquarium with our staff and observe these incredibly curious and adorable animals up close. Get a glimpse into a day in the life of a trainer and how they interact with these unique animals. Throughout this entire adventure, you’ll also get an intimate look at what it means to take care of African penguins.

Things To Know

Program requires participants to walk on wet, slippery surfaces. Closed-toed shoes and long pants are required. Please advise us of any disabilities, special needs, medical conditions or concerns you may have that could prevent you from fully participating in the program. No concern is too small; the more information you can provide about yourself, the better prepared we can be for your experience.
