Virtual AquaSchool for Home Learners
We welcome home learners and their educators to join us for a Virtual AquaSchool experience from the comfort and safety of your own environment.
Virtual AquaSchool will equip your students with the skills to become better observers, creative critical thinkers, and youth ambassadors in a rapidly changing environment.
Virtual AquaSchool is an opportunity to connect with educators from the Vancouver Aquarium and with other participants over a 4-week period.
This is a program developed specifically for committed educators and learners who are guided by curiosity and creativity. Each Virtual AquaSchool series will explore a different concept. While Virtual AquaSchool is BC Curriculum-minded, the focus is on discovery and skill-building.
Learners will be expected to participate both in real-time meetings and continue the discussion with our online learning platform.
4 real-time online meetings (once a week) with a Vancouver Aquarium educator
Curated resources to help you continue the conversation with your learner(s)
Access to an online community with discussion boards and resources
Become a better explorer and ambassador for your local beach. Discuss how we rely and impact our oceans. Explore and learn about how Indigenous diets continue to depend on the health of the land and oceans, how colonization has impacted Indigenous Peoples’ ability to survive, and how to respect the importance of the land, animals, and water.
