Who can Volunteer?
The following are the requirements to register for the Vancouver
Aquarium Marine Science Centre Volunteer Program:

Be at least 14 years of age

Be able to attend the orientation session and all of the training sessions (4 weeks)

Have valid Medical Coverage

Be fluent in English
-
Be eligible to volunteer in Canada
-
Be able to commit to a minimum of 6 months - one four (4) hour shift a week

Be able to navigate the Aquarium facility safely

Are there any volunteer opportunities if I am under 14?
No, unfortunately, because of insurance and liability issues you cannot
join the volunteer team until you are 14. Check out information about our Aquanauts and Young Biologists
Clubs - members of these programs have priority placement in our Volunteer training sessions once they are at least 14 years old.
Is there any cost to join the Volunteer Team?
Yes, there is a $40 materials fee for training participation and Volunteer uniform.
Fees may be waived in special circumstances.
What types of opportunities are available for volunteers?

Can I complete my Work Experience Hours at the Aquarium?
Yes! There are several specialized programs available for Grade
11 and Grade 12 students to complete their CAPP hours needed
for graduation. Please see What About Work Experience? for more information about WEX and other placements.
How many Volunteers are at the Aquarium?
Over 650 volunteers have donated time to the Aquarium. There are over 300 volunteers actively giving their time, talents & efforts.
