Internships at the Vancouver Aquarium
Internships are recruited for seasonally based on the needs of the organization. Internship descriptions will be posted here along with instructions for application. Students will be accepted based on skill sets and availability. Applications are accepted from any country and Canadian applicants are given first priority.

AquaVan Educator Internship NEW!!
Application deadline: January 28, 2011
Effect conservation through off-site delivery of aquatic education programs that further understanding of connections between animals,
environments and ourselves in schools across British Columbia and Alberta. Eight (8) unpaid internships are available over the 2010/2011 school year. Learn more about the AquaVan program here.

Animal health technologist and Veterinary technician students in their final year are encouraged to apply. Three (3) unpaid externships are available for 2 - 3 weeks each.

Want practical experience in communications and media relations? Apply your skills to this three month internship which will give you a board look at our communications and marketing team at the Aquarium. One (1) unpaid positions available.
Marine Mammal Training Internship Program

Marine Mammal Rescue Internship Program

Can international students apply?
Yes, international post secondary students who are currently enrolled and will be returning to school are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to Canadian applicants.
I am not from Vancouver. Where could I live? How much does it cost?
The Vancouver Aquarium strives to provide additional resources for our internship students.Please note this information is updated yearly and you may need to confirm details. Guide to Student Living in Vancouver
Is there an age limit or maximum to apply?
Applicants must be over the age of 19 years. Preference will be given to current or recently graduated students in post-secondary students in order to prepare you for a career in the field. There is no maximum age for applicants.
What if the internship that I am interested in is not posted or listed?
If you do not see the opportunity you are looking for, we are able - on occasion - to accommodate for special intern, extern or practicum placement requests. If you are looking for a Veterinarian internship, they are not posted online but we do involve them.
Internships not posted online are set up individually based on needs the Vancouver Aquarium has and skill sets that interested parties present. Please provide us with a detailed letter of interest and your resume, and we will do our best to find a place for you during your time.
