As Canada’s largest aquarium, the Vancouver Aquarium, an Ocean Wise ® initiative, connects hundreds of thousands of Aquarium visitors with the natural world. 

We've tried to answer the most commonly asked visitor questions below; however, if you're still unable to find the information you're looking for, please contact our Visitor Experience Department.

Q: How can I get to the Vancouver Aquarium if I am taking public transit?

A: The Stanley Park number 19 bus is the only public bus that comes into Stanley Park. We are a 2-minute walk from the bus loop.

Q: Do you have to pay for parking when visiting the aquarium?

A: The parking lots are not Aquarium property and require payment. There are Easy Park machines located throughout the parking lot. You may purchase parking by the hour or all day and we generally recommend a minimum of 3 hours to explore the Aquarium. IMPORTANT: Please do not leave any valuables visable in your vehicles after you park.

Q: I am parking in a handicap space. Do I have to pay for parking?

A: Yes, Easy Park requires everyone must pay for parking including those using handicap spaces. 

Q: Do taxis come into the park?

A: Yes, taxis do come into the park. The taxi stand is located across from the main entrance. If there are no taxis available the gift shop has a courtesy phone available for you to call one into the park. 

Q: What is the best time of year to visit? 

A: The Vancouver Aquarium is open 365 days a year. We have amazing and engaging programs available every day for all our visitors. There is always something new to discover no matter when you choose to visit with us. 

Q: When is it best to visit if I would like a quieter experience?

A: If you are looking for a quieter experience, we recommend that you come first thing in the morning.

Q: What is the recommended length of visit at the Vancouver Aquarium?

A: We recommend that you join us for at least 2.5-3 hours to be able to experience all we have to offer including our feature exhibit and daily programs. 

Q: What is your current featured exhibit?

A: Currently our featured exhibit is Discover Rays where you can get up close and interact with stingrays.

Q: How much is the 4-D Experience film? What film are you playing?

A: The 4-D movies are included in the cost of admission to the Aquarium. Visit our 4-D show page to see what's currently playing. 

Q: What time does the 4-D Experience play throughout the day?

A: The 4-D films play many times throughout the day. Check the show board once you arrive and find a time that best suits you.

Q: When can I purchase tickets for the After Hours event at the Vancouver Aquarium?

A: Tickets for our adult only After Hours event go one sale one month before the event.

Q: I bought Vancouver Aquarium admission tickets online and noticed the date on the ticket is not when I want to visit. Can I still use these tickets? 

A: All tickets for admission purchased online are not date specific and are valid up to one year from the date of purchase. Please note when you purchase tickets you are directed to a 3rd party secure payment website, during this process, please do not refresh the page or you could be double charged.  

Q: I purchased my ticket from a 3rd party; will the Vancouver Aquarium accept my ticket?

A: The Vancouver Aquarium will only accept tickets from our authorized partners, any tickets that are not authorized will not be accepted at the admissions counter and considered fraudulent. 

Q: Do you offer express entry into the Vancouver Aquarium?

A: If you purchase tickets online through our website, simply bring these tickets or the e-ticket on your phone to the express entry at admissions when you arrive. We also have express kiosks onsite available for quick ticket purchases using your credit card. 

Q: I created an account on the Vancouver Aquarium website and I entered the wrong email address. How can I fix this and get items sent to my correct email?

A: Simply email your name and the correct email address to visitor.experience@ocean.org  and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Q: I bought admission tickets online for the aquarium as a gift for someone else. Since my name is on the tickets, will they be able to use them? 

A: Yes, tickets bought as a gift for others can be transferred. The tickets barcode is unique and will not be accepted more than once. 

Q: Is there somewhere in the Aquarium where I can refill my reusable water bottle?

A: Yes, we no longer sell bottled water and have recently added new water bottle refill stations throughout our facility. This helps continue our efforts to keep plastics out of our oceans. 

Q: If I leave the aquarium during my visit, will I be allowed to re-enter again?

A: Yes, reentry is allowed with your hand stamp or receipt. Just be sure to keep your admission receipt handy.

Q: Can I put my cost of admission towards a membership during my visit?

A: Yes you can apply the cost of admission to a membership but only on the day of your visit. Please visit the Guest Services desk for details. 

Q: What are the benefits of becoming a Vancouver Aquarium member?

A: As a member, you will have unlimited visits during your membership. We have members only events and you will receive extra discounts at our food and retail outlets. Visit our membership page for more information about why it’s great to be a member. 

Q: Do you accept U.S currency at the Vancouver Aquarium?

A: Yes we do accept U.S currency and all major credit cards. Please note change given will be in Canadian dollars. Exchange rates will apply.  

Q: I am visiting from another country; do you have visitor maps in other languages?

A: We have language inserts for our visitor maps in French, German, Chinese, Punjabi, Spanish, Japanese and Korean.  

Q: Do you have wireless internet at the Vancouver Aquarium?

A: Yes, we do offer Wi-Fi services. Please visit the Guest Services desk if you require assistance. 

Q:  Do you have a private area where I can feed my infant?

A: Nursing mothers may nurse anywhere in the Aquarium but we do have private nursing areas for those who prefer that. Check our visitor map to find a location closest to you. 

Q: What is Ocean Wise? 

A: Ocean Wise ® is a global conservation organization, headquartered at the Vancouver Aquarium in Stanley Park. The Vancouver Aquarium is an Ocean Wise initiative.
