Report a Sea Turtle or Cetacean
Sighting!
The Vancouver Aquarium is interested in
any reports of cetaceans (whales, dolphins or porpoises) and
sea turtles in and around B.C. waters.
Sea
turtles and cetaceans (whales, dolphins and porpoises) are
an important - and, in some cases, endangered - part of
BC's marine life. To protect them, researchers need to
understand more about where they are, what they're doing,
and when. You can help by sharing what you've seen.
The
Vancouver Aquarium has two programs that document your sightings.
Get involved and
join
the hundreds of participants from all over our coast in
helping conserve our cetaceans and turtles.
BC Cetacean Sightings
Network:
In
1999, the B.C. Cetacean Sightings Network was established
to collect and compile sightings reports submitted by the
public. When analyzed, these sightings data create a clearer
picture of cetacean habitat use and aid in our understanding
of these creatures and their requirements.
Visit the Cetacean
Sightings Network web site to report a sighting, or to
find out how to identify the different types of cetaceans
on our coast.
