Small videos of Sockeye Salmon spawning in the Adams River

Get up close with a spawning female sockeye salmon on the Adams River. A female sockeye, nearing the end of her life, fights off a male from her nest of eggs called a redd. A female sockeye spawner finds refuge in a slow moving pool.  Her tail shows the decay of building her nests and she is definitely coming to the end of her life.
Sockeye spawners that are beginning their search for spawning grounds. Salmon eggs that have been washed out of the redd.  Salmon eggs are deposited into the gravel nests.  These redds provide protection for eggs as they develop. Sockeye spawners find places to rest along the Adams River.
