Goodbye Salmon Fry
On June 7 & 8, 2003, in honour of Oceans Day the Vancouver
Aquarium invited the public to help release hundreds of baby salmon
in the First Annual Goodbye Salmon Fry. This free event, hosted
in partnership with the Vancouver Park Board, took place at the
BC Hydro Salmon Stream Project in Stanley Park. This is the first
time the Aquarium has invited the public to help send thousands
of young salmon off on their journey to the Pacific. This celebration
of Oceans Day included a tour of the Stanley Park salmon hatchery,
and for kids 12 and under the thrill of releasing their very own
live salmon into the stream! Other activities include Gyotaku fish
printing, guided walks, fish feeds and special shows.
