Little is known about the movements of salmon once they migrate out into the ocean.

A new research initiative called the Pacific Ocean Salmon Tracking project (POST) offers the opportunity to make major breakthroughs in our understanding of how salmon use the ocean.

The project strives to answer the questions about where they go, how they use the structure of the ocean environment to accomplish these migrations and what they experience when they reach their marine feeding grounds.
