Rockfish Abundance Survey
The Vancouver Aquarium has developed a new Rockfish Abundance Survey and we need a number of experienced, knowledgeable divers to help test it in the field. As you may be aware, the conservation of BC’s inshore rockfish species is the greatest fisheries crisis in BC’s history. Abundance numbers for these slow-maturing, long-lived species are at an all time low, particularly in the Strait of Georgia (.. more)

Lingcod Survey
By taking part in the Annual Lingcod Egg Mass Survey, you are helping to gather important information about a valuable local resource. We ought to be very concerned when a stock has reached 3-5% of what it was a century ago. Divers participating in this annual survey collect information on the number, size, condition, and position of egg masses, as well as whether or not a guarding male (.. more)

Photomurals, Unmasking B.C.'s Waters
The creation of photomurals allows people to view expansive images of B.C.'s normally hard to photograph underwater world. Photographing underwater habitats in the Strait of Georgia can be particularly difficult, as our waters are often dark and turbid, owing to a combination of plankton-rich waters and silty run-off from the Fraser River. These two factors can make it practically impossible to take an (.. more)
