Clint
Wright, B.Sc.(Hons)
Vice
President Operations and Animal Management
Clint has spent over twenty years working in aquariums and joined the Vancouver Aquarium in 1990. He has extensive experience in animal training and husbandry. Clint's technical expertise lies in aquatic animal management and he has overseen animal acquisition and transportation world wide from killer whales to salt water crocodiles. He currently oversees and manages all aspects of animal management and welfare at the Aquarium, including the Marine Mammal Rescue and Rehabilitation Program.
Danny
Kent, B.Sc.(Hons)
Curator of B.C. Waters
Danny Kent has worked for over eighteen years with the Vancouver Aquarium in a wide variety of departments and positions. His expertise lies in the husbandry of temperate marine fish and invertebrates. He manages a team of B.C. Waters aquarists, and has successfully reared 46 species of marine fish larvae and 10 species of crustacean larvae. Recently he has also taken on the role of managing the salmon hatchery and associated operations of the B.C. Hydro Salmon Stream Project, a live demonstration stream in Stanley Park. Danny has extensive field experience collecting and transporting fish in both the temperate and tropical waters. Field expeditions for collecting fish include trips to the Canadian high Arctic, Peru, Brasil, Philippines, Texas, and a wide variety of areas on the British Columbia coastline.
Lee
Newman
Curator of Tropical Waters
Lee Newman joined the Vancouver Aquarium’s Aquarist Department in 1990 with over 20 years experience in the husbandry of freshwater fishes. His specific husbandry expertise is in the maintenance and breeding of South American cichlidae. He is also competent in aquarium fish (SLR) photography and is a well-known published author and international speaker. Mr. Newman brings to his curatorial role an ability to understand and collate, life support, biological and husbandry, educational and esthetic requirements into new and existing exhibits. Mr. Newman has extensive aquatic animal collecting and transport experience gained in four overseas field trips to South America and Africa. He also has experience in field conservation work, having been part of the 1996 LV-SSP trip to Uganda.
Brian
Sheehan, B.Sc.
Curator of Marine Mammals
Brian Sheehan has over 20 years experience in aquariums working with killer whales, and a host of other marine mammals. His expertise lies in the development and implementation of marine mammal training, husbandry and management for both experienced and naïve animals. Brian's experience includes routine and novel medical procedures, research, and the movement and transportation of marine mammals. He has also been involved in successful rescue efforts with a variety of marine mammals, most recently involving a stranded killer whale at Dungeness Spit, in Washington.
