KIDS FEED ANIMALS HOLIDAY TREATS FOR BELUGA BASH CELEBRATION
Vancouver, BC: Media are invited to join school kids on Thursday, December 15, 2005 as they help train and feed dolphins and beluga whales to launch Beluga Bash, the Aquarium’s holiday celebration.
Beluga Bash, December 17 to January 2, allows visitors eight years and older the chance to win a mini beluga or dolphin encounter in exchange for a donation to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. Each person who brings a non-perishable food item or makes a minimum $2 donation will be entered to win a chance to feed the animals at daily beluga whale and dolphin shows. Everyone who makes a donation will also be entered into a grand prize draw for a Beluga Encounter for four.
The Underwater Beluga viewing area has also been transformed for the holidays, into a mystical Arctic Wonderland complete with icicles, snowdrifts, snow covered Christmas trees and a light display featuring the Aurora Borealis.
The Aquarium will also be buzzing with activity as kids can watch daily magic shows and take part in Beluga Bash Bingo for fantastic prizes. The Aquarium’s own mascot, Bee Bop Beluga, will also be on hand to host daily Beluga Jeopardy games, crafts and other activities. Parents will be able to relax in our special “Beluga Lounge Cafe” where hot chocolate and beluga shaped cookies will be available.
Beluga Bash also features Scuba Claus, December 17-24, where Santa dives in the Strait of Georgia Exhibit daily at 11:30am.
The Vancouver Aquarium is open daily from 10 am - 5:30 pm, including Christmas and New Year’s Day from 12 - 5 pm.
