AQUARIUM YOUTH TEAMS WORK TO PRESERVE AQUATIC ENVIRONMENTS
Vancouver, BC: The Vancouver Aquarium celebrated the successful projects completed by its Aquatic Conservation Team (ACT) during yesterday's Youth Action Day.
This event showcased the conservation activities undertaken by Lower Mainland youth during the past school year. It also included a career panel of leaders in business, research, education and government to show youth potential career paths in the sustainablity sector, a resource fair of local sustainable organizations, discussion groups on youth environmental priorities and a hands-on invasive species removal in Stanley Park.
Various ACT projects throughout the year included beach cleanups and invasive species removal in Vancouver, to storm drain marking in Port Coquitlam, to the production of educational pamphlets on the impacts of raw sewage in Prince Rupert.
Youth Action Day occurs during the Aquarium’s 30 Days of Sustainability, a special month of family activities and displays that show people ways to help save the environment. Inside the Aquarium in lower Pacific Canada, a special interactive sustainability exhibit shows visitors how even the smallest changes can make a world of difference.
