VANCOUVER, BC – To celebrate World Oceans Day, Vancouver Aquarium is launching Oceans Week Trivia online starting World Oceans Day, June 8th to June 14th at vanaqua.org for a chance to win a family membership and an amazing sea turtle encounter.
As part of Vancouver Aquarium’s celebration for World Oceans Day, enter Oceans Week Trivia online at www.vanaqua.org . Simply enter the contest by watching the five videos about our beloved Aquarium animals, including beluga, sea turtle, arapaima, birds of prey and jellies. Then answer ten trivia questions after the videos. Participants must answer all questions correctly to be eligible to win the grand prize of a family membership and a sea turtle encounter.
In the middle of Oceans Week, join the Vancouver Aquarium in celebrating our baby beluga Tiqa’s first birthday on June 10. Tiqa was born on Tuesday June 10, 2008 at 4:28pm, making history as the first calf in Canada to be born to an aquarium-born beluga. We will be singing Happy Birthday after the 12:00 beluga training session where Tiqa will receive some fishy presents, and some extra special attention. Then, please stay for free birthday cake to celebrate Tiqa’s big day.
About World Oceans Day
As of 2009, June 8 has been officially declared by the United Nations as “World Oceans Day.” The World Oceans Day theme for 2009 is “one ocean, one climate, one future.” Our planet’s surface is covered by 70% water, and our oceans play an essential role in maintaining the natural balance of life. Our oceans help us on a daily basis by generating oxygen, providing food sources, regulating climate and cleaning our drinking water.
