AQUARIUM RAISES $230,000 AT 13TH ANNUAL SALMONCHANTED EVENING
Vancouver, BC: The Vancouver Aquarium is pleased to announce that it raised $230,000 at its annual Salmonchanted Evening on September 29th.
Salmonchanted began in 1994 and has since raised over $1 million for the Aquarium’s research, conservation and education programs. Always a popular event, this year’s festivities included over 300 guests sitting down to an elegant meal, live and silent auctions, and a fish pond in the Strait of Georgia exhibit where guests had the chance to fish for prizes.
One of this year’s featured auction items was an original print by acclaimed artist Robert Davidson. Other great items to bid on were a sailing trip through Haida Gwaii and a special edition Ford Escape Hybrid.
Salmonchanted Evening is a fun and festive fundraiser for the Vancouver Aquarium, a non-profit, self-supporting association, which receives no annual operational funding from any level of government. The event raises money for a variety of Aquarium conservation, education, and marine science initiatives including school programming, species-at-risk research and the Marine Mammal Rescue program.
