FREE PARTY IN THE PARK SUNDAY CELEBRATED AQUARIUM’S 50TH BIRTHDAY
Vancouver, BC: People from all across the Lower Mainland celebrated the Vancouver Aquarium’s 50th birthday yesterday with a Party in the Park, including a parade with special guests SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick Star and the Aquarium’s own Bee Bop Beluga.
Hundreds of visitors came to Stanley Park to participate in the festivities, which began at 9:30 a.m. with free coffee, juice and a party hat-making activity at the salmon stream plaza. After a lively warm-up by the Carnival Band, the procession wound its way back to the Aquarium where everyone enjoyed a whale of a cake, prizes and a meet and greet with SpongeBob and Patrick Star.
The fun continued inside the Aquarium in the afternoon with a blast from the past, when a diver from the Historical Dive Society donned 175 pounds of 1950’s diving gear to dive in the shark tank in the Tropic Zone.
