VANCOUVER AQUARIUM IS NOW OPEN
Vancouver, BC: The Vancouver Aquarium is please to announce that it is now open to visitors. Park Board crews worked quickly yesterday to clear any felled trees and branches from roadways on the east side of Stanley Park after Tuesday’s windstorm. Visitors can enter the park on Georgia Street and exit via Pipeline Road.
All forest trails are still closed and the public are reminded to respect barricades and stay out of forested areas for their own safety.
The Vancouver Aquarium is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is running all scheduled programming, including dolphin and beluga shows, school programs, trainer tours and beluga encounters.
In response to extensive damage to Stanley Park from windstorms during the past month, the Vancouver Aquarium is donating a total of $16,626 to the Stanley Park Tree Fund to help with reforesting the park. The Aquarium started the fund with an initial $5,000 donation, and matched the $5,813 in cash donations made on-site by visitors during the busy two-week period ending on January 5, 2007.
