AQUARIUM’S OCEAN WISE PROGRAM CELEBRATES THREE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY

Vancouver, BC: Today the Vancouver Aquarium celebrated the three-year anniversary of its Ocean Wise seafood conservation program with sustainable seafood offerings from some of the program’s newest restaurant partners.

Ocean Wise helps participating restaurant and market partners make environmentally friendly seafood choices, which are then easily identified with the Ocean Wise logo. Over the past three years, the program has grown from a small, local initiative to become a leader locally, nationally and internationally in the burgeoning sustainable seafood movement.

During the celebration, guests enjoyed Ocean Wise samples from new partners such as Beyond Restaurant, Edible Planet, Glowbal Group (Coast, Glowbal Grill and Italian Kitchen), Great Bear Pub, Jericho Tennis Club, Panago Pizza, Spence on the Coast and Simon Fraser University.

The Vancouver Aquarium is committed to conserving oceans and Ocean Wise is helping participants make a positive change. The Lower Mainland culinary community continues to be a leader in seafood conservation, and we would like to celebrate the addition of 55 new partners to the Ocean Wise program in 2007.

Originally launched in Vancouver in January 2005, the Ocean Wise program now has 105 participating members, including 113 restaurant locations, four market locations, two culinary schools, a sports/entertainment arena and a university campus. For a full list of participants, please visit www.oceanwisecanada.org.
