Three Times a Charm – 3rd annual Night at the Aquarium a great success!

Vancouver, BC - The Vancouver Aquarium is delighted to announce it is the grateful beneficiary of $275,000+ raised at last night’s 3rd annual Night at the Aquarium.

This gala fundraiser event was hosted by the non-profit, self-supporting Vancouver Aquarium with 100% of proceeds in support of the ongoing success of its many education, research and conservation efforts.

The Aquarium welcomed 500 people to this fabulous gala event. Attendees sampled creative and scrumptious dishes such as lobster bisque and octopus appies from many Vancouver-area restaurants participating in the Aquarium’s Ocean Wise program. Ocean Wise educates and raises consumer awareness of sustainable seafood practices. Participants last evening included Ocean Wise founding partner C restaurant with its team led by Executive Chef Robert Clark.

Dazzling live musical performances by multi-genre steel drum band Soul Survivors wowed the crowd with their unique combination of music styles including Jazz, Reggae, Classical and Funk. DJ Leanne spun till the wee hours while irresistible items on silent and live auction created generous competition among gala-goers. Items included one-of-a-kind travel opportunities, original work of art and luxury vehicle use.

Attendees also experienced a rare opportunity to view the newest member of the Aquarium’s family, a newborn female beluga whale born to mother Aurora born last Sunday afternoon (June 7) at 3:39pm (PDT).

Night at the Aquarium carries on the fund raising event tradition started in 1994 by Salmonchanted Evening in support of the Aquarium’s research, conservation and education programs.

The Vancouver Aquarium is a self-supporting, non-profit association dedicated to effecting the conservation of marine life through display and interpretation, conservation practices, education, research, and direct action. Visit vanaqua.org to learn more about the work of the Vancouver Aquarium.
