AQUARIUM RAISES $228,000 AT INAUGURAL ‘NIGHT AT THE AQUARIUM’ FUNDRAISER
Vancouver, BC: The Vancouver Aquarium is pleased to announce that it raised $228,000 at its 1st annual ‘Night at the Aquarium’ fundraiser on June 8, 2007. The Aquarium had 400 people at this inaugural gala.
Night at the Aquarium replaces Salmonchanted Evening, which began in 1994 and has since raised over $1 million for the Aquarium’s research, conservation and education programs. This year’s festivities took a fresh approach including acrobatic performances by Cirque Pacifique, marine mammal shows and dive demonstrations, and a live auction featuring original artwork and unique trips, including a five-star adventure to Kyuquot Sound. Patrons dined on delicious cuisine provided by several restaurants that participate in the Aquarium’s Ocean Wise seafood conservation program.
Night at the Aquarium is a fun and festive fundraiser for the Vancouver Aquarium, a non-profit, self-supporting association, which receives no annual operational funding from any level of government. The event raises money for a variety of Aquarium conservation, education, and marine science initiatives including school programming, species-at-risk research, conservation programs, and the Marine Mammal Rescue program.
