COME DOWN TO EARTH WEEKEND
April 25 & 26 at the Vancouver Aquarium

Vancouver, BC – Staff and volunteers at the Vancouver Aquarium invite you to celebrate EARTH WEEKEND with us in beautiful Stanley Park, Saturday, April 25 & Sunday, April 26.

EARTH WEEKEND is chock full of fun, educational activities for people of all ages!

The 7th annual Goodbye Salmon Fry event includes public tours of the Aquarium’s salmon hatchery.  By releasing your own salmon fry into the BC Hydro salmon stream in Stanley Park, you’ll effect the conservation of a vital marine species. Goodbye Salmon Fry tours & releases occur at 11:45 a.m., 1:45 p.m., 2:45 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. on both April 25 & 26.

In partnership with Fresh Start Recycling, EARTH WEEKEND also gives you an opportunity to drop off your electronic recycling for FREE!  Items accepted include computer hardware and cell phones. When you come down to EARTH WEEKEND, bring your electronic recycling items with you so they can be properly recycled in an Earth-friendly way.

Check out our dive show in the Strait of Georgia exhibit each morning at 11:30. You’ll learn about POST (Pacific Ocean Shelf Tracking), a research program using acoustic receiver technology to track migration of salmon and other marine species in the Pacific Ocean.  And after the dive show, learn about the Aquarium’s Killer Whale Adoption Program.

Plus, EARTH WEEKEND includes a fun scavenger hunt with the chance to win a Sea Otter Encounter for 2!  And you’ll find Earth-themed crafts and face-painting for kids and lots of Earth-friendly tips from Aquarium staff.

Come down to EARTH WEEKEND at the Vancouver Aquarium, it’s the perfect opportunity to keep on celebrating Earth Day. Details at http://vanaqua.org/home/EarthWeekend2009
