Vancouver Aquarium’s BCTC AquaVan visits Surrey
Free community event on Saturday, January 30 offers aquatic education to entire community
VANCOUVER, BC – The Surrey community is invited to visit Vancouver Aquarium’s BCTC AquaVan on Saturday, January 30 at Laronde Elementary. The BCTC AquaVan is aquatic education on the move! This mobile classroom invites participants to experience hands-on learning with living marine life.
Laronde Elementary students have been participating in the BCTC AquaVan’s special week-long program SeaChange and now it’s time to invite the entire Surrey community be a part of the action and the fun. SeaChange is a program to educate students of all ages on human connections with the ocean, showing people how to help conserve precious marine species and their ocean environments through direct-action programs.
BCTC AquaVan Free Community Event:

WHERE: Laronde Elementary School, 1880 Laronde Drive, Surrey
Special highlights of this fun, family-friendly event include:
- Hands-on Interaction – Touch living, colourful marine life such as sea stars and hermit crabs
- Student Artwork – Conservation-themed art projects created by SeaChange students
- Ask An Expert – Want to know how your conservation efforts can protect marine life? Get the answers from the Vancouver Aquarium’s BCTC AquaVan education team
About the BCTC AquaVan
The Vancouver Aquarium’s BCTC AquaVan is one of the Aquarium’s many educational initiatives that help people connect with our natural world and inspire them toward conservation action. This award-winning program is 32-feet of aquatic education on the move! The program provides children and families across BC and Alberta with the chance to get up close and personal with live animals and to experience aquatic life regardless of where they live. This fun, interactive aquatic education program complements the BC Ministry of Education’s curriculum guidelines for K-12.
