Vancouver Aquarium’s BCTC AquaVan visits Cache Creek, BC
to provide hands-on learning about marine conservation
VANCOUVER, BC – Members of the Cache Creek community joined the Vancouver Aquarium’s BCTC AquaVan marine educators at Cache Creek Elementary, where elementary students and their families experienced hands-on learning with marine life.
The Vancouver Aquarium’s BCTC AquaVan is one of the Aquarium’s many educational initiatives that help people connect with our natural world and inspire them toward conservation action. This award-winning program is 32-feet of aquatic education on the move! The program provides children and families across BC and Alberta with the chance to get up close and personal with live animals and to experience aquatic life regardless of where they live. This fun, interactive aquatic education program complements the BC Ministry of Education’s curriculum guidelines for K-12.
SeaChange is part of the Vancouver Aquarium’s BCTC AquaVan’s special week-long program which offers students aquatic knowledge and so much more! SeaChange also educates on sustainable seafood, and how students – through direct action on choosing seafood wisely – can protect precious marine species and their ocean environments.
Cache Creek Elementary students and families interacted hands-on with living, colourful marine life such as sea stars and hermit crabs. SeaChange program students showcased their conservation-themed art projects. The Vancouver Aquarium’s BCTC AquaVan education team demonstrated how conservation efforts can protect these species.
