In 2006, Where Magazine in collaboration with Ocean Wise and other local sustainable seafood experts created the Sustainable Seafood Award for Vancouver. The aim of the award was to recognize these amazingly passionate and creative chefs and restaurants that have made huge strides in providing their patrons not only with the freshest and highest quality, but also the most ocean-friendly, sustainably sourced seafood possible. In 2008, the Where Magazine Sustainable Seafood Award was expanded to include Calgary. |

The 1st Annual BC Sustainable Seafood Chowder Competition was held at Vancouver Aquarium in 2008 in conjunction with Raincoast Trading Ltd. Finalists battle it out for the ultimate 'chow down' - stay tuned for the 2009 competition!
