Night at the Aquarium 2009 Was a Success!
The 500 attendees of this fabulous gala event sampled creative and scrumptious dishes such as lobster bisque and octopus appies from many Vancouver-area restaurants participating in the Aquarium’s Ocean Wise program. Ocean Wise educates and raises consumer awareness of sustainable seafood practices. Participants last evening included Ocean Wise founding partner C restaurant with its team led by Executive Chef Robert Clark.
Dazzling live musical performances by multi-genre steel drum band Soul Survivors wowed the crowd with their unique combination of music styles including Jazz, Reggae, Classical and Funk. DJ Leanne spun till the wee hours while irresistible items on silent and live auction created generous competition among gala-goers. Items included one-of-a-kind travel opportunities, original work of art and luxury vehicle use.
Attendees also experienced a rare opportunity to view the newest member of the Aquarium’s family, a newborn female beluga whale born to mother Aurora born last Sunday afternoon (June 7) at 3:39pm (PDT).
Night at the Aquarium carries on the fund raising event tradition started in 1994 by Salmonchanted Evening in support of the Aquarium’s research, conservation and education programs.
