Corals

Among all of the Cnidarians (stinging-tentacle animals), the most commonly observed, easy-to-identify species in Howe Sound after sea anemones and sea pens are perhaps the various corals. The types of corals that form reefs in tropical seas are only distant relatives of the most common, true hard corals in Howe Sound – the cup corals, which are solitary species that cannot join together to form a reef structure.
