Recommended for Grades 5-11
This hands-on, interactive program guides students through the Scientific Method using live marine animals. It focuses on: developing a hypothesis; designing an experiment with a control; identifying independent and dependent variables; and stresses the importance of repeating an experiment.
In the first half of the program, students rotate through a variety of stations witnessing live animal demonstrations that illustrate scientific concepts in experiments. In the second half of the program, students work in teams with the help of our friendly and knowledgeable trained staff and volunteers to design and conduct their own experiments.
Salty Science: The Art of Experimental Design is offered over two semesters from October 12, 2011 to April 25, 2012. Please see below for semester details.
