Did you know that some children, even those in Metro Vancouver, have never been to the ocean? When you donate to the Bennett Bursary Program, you make it possible for young students from disadvantaged schools to visit the Aquarium and have an unforgettable experience.
Sadly, some disadvantaged schools simply cannot afford the costs of bringing a class to the Aquarium. In the past few years, the Aquarium has sought and received select gifts from individual donors that, in turn, are provided to schools as a bursary to enable them to visit the Aquarium or to have an outreach program visit their school. By removing this financial barrier, accessibility to school programs has been increased.
The Bennett Bursary Program received its name from Betsy Bennett, whose decades of support and leadership at the Aquarium culminated in this permanent program which was made possible with the generous assistance of the extended Bennett family.
