Butterflies are back!

The Amazon Gallery at the Vancouver Aquarium will be welcoming a new collection of seasonal tropical butterflies during the second week of June.

Between now and Labour Day, the Aquarium will be adding more than 8,000 butterflies to its Amazon exhibit.

Species include blue morpho, monarch, owl, zebra and postman butterflies. Butterfly pupae are also on display, so visitors can watch the butterflies emerge before they are released into the gallery. The pupae are imported from Costa Rica, where sustainable butterfly farming is providing local farmers with an economic reason to preserve native rainforests rather than destroy them.

Join us at the Aquarium to explore the mysteries as these beautiful creatures are released into the Amazon free-flight gallery.

First arrivals and informal talks will start June 14th and run all summer!
