Toast to the Coast 2009 was a success!

On Friday, November 6, 2009, 350 young professionals and food and wine enthusiasts joined us for an evening of culinary delights and musical entertainment. With the help of our generous sponsors, partners, and guests, we raised $57,000 benefitting the Aquarium’s education and conservation initiatives such as Ocean Wise, the sustainable seafood program created to help restaurants and consumers make environmentally responsible seafood choices.

Set against the enchanting backdrop of the Aquarium at night, guests of Toast to the Coast were treated to an evening of innovative canapes provided by 6 Ocean Wise restaurants and wine tastings offered by 13 BC VQA wineries.

29 silent auction items were generously provided by our community sponsors. This year, there was an impromptu live auction where Vancouver Aquarium President, Dr. John Nightingale, offered up a 2010 Olympic torch which sold for an astonishing $2,500!

Guests were also encouraged to participate in our raffle draw for a chance to win a showcase prize of a custom-fit mountain bike from Mercedes-Benz, and a host of other gifts.

The Aquarium and Toast to the Coast Committee wish to thank our many event sponsors, participating restaurants and wineries, auction and raffle donors, and guests who made this event such a huge success!
