To book the BCTC AquaVan in your community, please call our BCTC AquaVan Bookings Administrator at (604) 659-3488 or email us at AquaVan@vanaqua.org.

Let the award-winning BCTC AquaVan make a splash in your community with live animals from marine and freshwater habitats of British Columbia. Touch a sea star, examine the intricacies of a barnacle, and be amazed by the wonders of the marine world. Discover the connections between aquatic life, the environment and ourselves.

Living Waters (Up to five hours per day)

  • BCTC AquaVan Educators lead groups of any age in a hands-on exploration of life from seashores and open oceans, sea bottoms and estuaries.
  • Find out how a sea cucumber defends itself, where hermit crabs get their shells and how they all 'fit' into the web of life.
  • Explore displays of live creatures from fresh and salt water habitats.
  • Discover how you are connected to the ocean.
  • Check out the ongoing interactive exhibits and videos that reveal secrets of marine life.
  • Our experienced BCTC AquaVan team make this a program that inspires and educates all ages.

Work Experience

In addition to providing stellar programming to our community program participants, BCTC AquaVan educators provide work experience opportunities for Science Career Prep students across British Columbia and Alberta. The insight into animal and systems maintenance, as well as training in aquatic education, provides secondary students with new technical skills and hands-on educational experiences. BCTC AquaVan educators act as role models in the fields of marine ecology, research and education for these young men and women.
