Intertidal Marine Biology (Grade 11)

Study live specimens from four of B.C.'s major marine invertebrate phyla and explore the ecology of local seashore animals in our Wet Lab classroom.  Discuss marine issues and consider stewardship opportunities.

Fall, Winter and Spring Semesters (Oct-Jun), Tuesday-Friday, 9:30am and 12:30pm, 2 hrs, $12.50/student, 15-30 students

Prescribed Learning Outcomes:

Grade 11: It is expected that students will:

  • Apply the Kingdom system of classification to study the diversity of organisms [Taxonomy]
  • Analyse the increasing complexity of the Phylum Porifera and the Phylum Cnidaria [Animal Biology]
  • Analyse the increasing complexity of the Phylum Mollusca, the Phylum Echinodermata, and the Phylum Arthropoda [Animal Biology]
