Our Mandate
Education and Awareness - The TD Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup is designed to raise awareness and change attitudes about shoreline litter. In addition, valuable data is collected during the cleanup, which is used to pinpoint the most problematic litter sources in communities across Canada.
Community Stewardship - In September of 2008, participants in the TD Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup removed debris from 1280 sites across Canada. The cleanup attracts a diverse group of participants ranging in age and background. Many of these groups clean up the same shoreline each September and demonstrate a sense of stewardship toward these sites.
Environmental Monitoring and Restoration - Removing litter from sensitive aquatic habitats helps to restore the environment and creates healthier spaces for animals and plants to thrive. By changing attitudes about litter, these habitats will be protected and preserved from future litter-related damage.
