Tentacled Snake Feed

This video of a tentacled snake was filmed at the Vancouver Aquarium during a weekly feed. These snakes are ambush hunters and assume a pre-strike posture. Anchoring themselves with the tail to submerged branches, they prey on small fish as they swim by. They are slightly venomous and have small fangs at the back of the mouth.

Scientific Name: Erpeton tentaculatum

Geographical Range: Southeast Asia - Thailand and across to Kampuchea (formerly Cambodia)

Habitat
: Slightly acidic, stagnant waters of shallow debth.

Diet
: Fish

Conservation Status
: Not Endangered
